The Lehman College Radio Station hosted a party event on Friday, Feb. 20, inside the Game Room, also known as the “Bat Cave”, in the basement of the Student Life Building.
President Daviston Jeffers, 23, a mass communication major, and Vice President Raymond Canales II, 23, an English literature major, created the event to promote the radio station hoping to garner the support of Lehman students.
Event coordinator Krystal Martinez, 18, psychology major, helped organize the event as well as provide food, drinks, and entertainment for the students, which included Xbox and Wii games and a variety of music by DJ Sly.
“The event is a great way to have students socialize and branch out to others,” said Martinez.
Martinez explained the many ways students could use the radio station. They can share their original music to be played and broadcasted.
“I like the fact that we’re at ground zero,” said Canales. “The memories that we have right now are creating brand new pathways. I really like the idea of making the station relevant again.”
Many students in the event have also said it was a fun experience and they hope to see the next one soon.
The station has planned another event for Friday, Feb. 28, from 2 to 5:30 p.m., in the Apex during a basketball tournament.
